A focal-point for traditional rural pursuits
Epitomising a centuries-old,
constantly-repeated scene
recognised world-wide as being
as quintessentiqally English as
roast beef, huntsmen and
women assemble at a rural
village inn.
For the village pub has always
been a natural meeting-and-
focal-point for traditional rural
pursuits’ activists and
supporters alike.
Here, some of nearly 100 members of
the Vale of Aylesbury Hunt gathering on
a crisp, bright, still December morning a
the Green Dragon, Flaunden, to enjoy
seasonal delights such as mulled wine,
sausage rolls and mince pies astride
their mounts before setting out for a
day’s hunting across the Hertfordshire
and Buckinghamshire countryside.
And during the game shooting season,
the Dragon’s Tap Room is where
groups of guns, beaters and their eager
working dogs meet to relax and refresh
after long - and hopefully productive -
mornings in the field.
